IETF Funding

The Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF) is a Government grant scheme applicable in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, which supports industrial businesses with high energy use wishing to embark on a deep decarbonisation pathway. This involves both cutting energy usage through energy efficiencies and also reducing carbon emissions by integrating the latest renewable technologies. Launched in 2020, the IETF was split into 3 phases. The first part of phase 3 closed in April 2024, but the second competition window is expected to be announced soon.

"This is the biggest milestone so far in our journey to Net Zero. Our ambitious plan to decarbonise the Airport is critical to the North East becoming a low carbon region, and the solar farm development is demonstration of the willingness of the Airport to invest."
